I'm In?

Both of the Talia's Wings socks are done. Here is the proof. Two unblocked socks on two very hairy legs. The son thinks it is really funny to pose for me. From the looks of this photo, he is right.
Oddly, I made it through round three of Sock Madness. I cannot figure out how that happened. I took Monday off to spend the day being drugged and going through an MRI. I needed the drugs to dull the pain while laying still in a tube that pounds, beeps, whistles, chirps, grunts, gasps, burps, and drums. Why do MRI's make so much noise? After it was finished I spent the rest of the afternoon and evening in a stupor. It was a good thing they did not let me have my dpn's in there. Not enough room. The cousin suggested googles but I could not find any. I would have liked a photo of that though.

Right now I am enjoying really warm weather along with relaxing between contest rounds. For someone who is not competitive, why did I sign up for this?

It must be insanity.

Talia's Wings1

But the pattern is inventive and fairly easy to memorize. Now I have to hussle and get the second sock finished. Why oh why did I pick a sock knitting contest while on pain medicine?

Oh yeah. I didn't pick the pain. It picked me. And it is still picking on me. But I will have the victory. Some folks get needles stuck into their bodies (acupuncture). I only stick myself with needles accidentally. That has happened a few times because I am just not very sharp right now.

I just love really bad puns.

Tokena Done

I knit these on wooden dpn's and went up to size 3.25 to get a gauge of 9 stitches per inch. I knit much looser with wooden needles but still needed larger than normal needles for this pattern. I am very glad I tried stranded knitting. And very glad it is DONE. Whew. Now the son has new socks and I am taking a sock-knitting break.

At least until Round 3.

Celtic Memory

I love this blog and her style of writing. To tempt you to go there also, I stole this photo from one of her posts. It is hers but saved to my server. I may steal photos but never band width.
So take a look at this.

And then go there.

Finished at Last

A sunny morning and tangerine socks. Besides being a bit blurry, they are cheerful and DONE. Yeah for that. My left index finger agrees. It is slightly sore and slightly punctured. I really need to learn a new way of knitting.

But not in the middle of Sock Madness 3.

After that I will find a new excuse. (grin)

Accomplishments

I finished the first Sock Madness 3 sock. Tropical Mertini is fun. I however am very very slow. Thank goodness the yarn is so pretty. It keeps me coming back to it. That and the fact that I really want to see the other sock finished. And then to lick them. The color reminds me of oranges and I love oranges. I crave oranges.

Hmmm. I think the drugs are controlling me.

Oranges. Sweet, juicy oranges.

I am now soooo hungry.

Sock Madness 3

The first pattern is Tropical Mertini. I panicked a bit at the idea of making afterthought heels but this is supposed to be a challenge. So far, so good. The yarn is Stash so I don't really know what it is or where it was created but it is very pretty and shiny. Shiny is good. Shiny and percocet are a very interesting combination. Trying to compete in a sock knitting contest while taking percocet is probably not the wisest move I have ever made. Then again, how wise can one be while taking percocet? What I do know is that I would rather be knitting while drugged than in pain. So whatever happens with this sock, it will be amusing.

Traveling Toward Sock Madness

Can one laugh and knit at the same time? You may find yourself laughing at my disasterous knitting attempts.

Prepare for some really bad photos too.
